Self Potty-Trained

My boy was potty trained by my mum when he was three months old. He would alert my mum when he needs to pass urine. However, this only lasted for a short while. After he was under the care of my MIL, he was pampered and he was subsequently reluctant to even sit in a potty. It took months for my maid to get him back on track. Last month, he still pee in the cloth diaper. To our surprise, he has a TOTAL change past 2 days where he requested us to bring him to toilet to pee right before he sleeps and more interestingly, he wake-up middle of the night yesterday when he asked us to bring him to toilet. :P What a surprise! After waking-up two rounds to make milk for two babies, I refused to wake-up again. I called my husband to settle it. My husband was initially requested him to pee in the diaper but I told him to better bring him to toilet. My boy was so excited when his father finally dragged himself up. Then, we start to worry how to finish our stock of over-size diaper.

My First Word - Baba

Babababa.............. my daughter mumble it numerous times in front of me. It is quite dissapointing as my son oso called my husband first. :(
But, old people saying if your baby calls you first, you will need to work harder to support their daily living expenses. HAHAHA.........

No WATER, Pls

I had a hard time of feeding water to both of my children. My baby girl didn't drink water partly because of my fault. I feed her only breast milk for a good 5 months. After that, I started to feed her water but she refused to drink even till now. According to expert, you are not supposed to feed your baby water when you breastfeed them exclusively. We use syringe, spoon, or bottle to feed her water. She is stubborn and hardly drink. She has no problem to pass motion because I still breastfeed her at night.

My poor son is having problem to pass motion. It's getting worse when he didn't pass motion for a consecutive 4 days. We're damn worried. He refused to drink water ever since we change the bottle nipple after it was spoilt. He will only listen to my husband and drink water at night. His stool was so hard and sometimes got blood. Headache:( How can I feed them water??

Reading book

My son is a book lover. He will spend some time to read book everyday although he doesn't know the words. I felt guilty of not teaching him how to read. Sometimes, I did teach him some words but he doesn't want me to teach him. He will flip through the book and ignore me. :(

His sister likes to grab book from him and put into her mouth. Eating book is her favourite.:P

Rub Feet = Naughty

My son started to rub his feet when he was 3-month old and my daughter rubbed her feet after month 6. Both of them are meant to be v difficult babies. Old people believe that babies that rub their feet are v naughty. This is CORRECT!!! Watch out if your babies do that.

My daughter rub her feet fiercely when she threw tantrum until her feet was injured with scratches all over her feet. I was wondering how she can withstand the pain when her skin is peeling off.

Tidy Vs. Messy

I learn from my son that his neatness is inborn. I've to admit that I'm not an organised person and I can't lead my children by good example. :P In fact, he is my role model and he taught me how to clean-up the house. He has damn good memory. He'll always prompt me NOT to leave things everywhere. He'll direct me to put my old newspaper in the store room and put my magazines back to the rack, hang back my coat, put my handbag on the cabinet, ...................
Hmmm................ I've to change bcoz of him. :) He is my headmaster...

1st Fever

My little girl has finally fallen sick yesterday when she developed high fever at night. We quickly fed her the fever syrup. She is more difficult than her brother when it comes to feeding medicine. One person got to carry her, another person got to fix her head from moving left and right and another person got to feed her medicine. Luckily, the fever was subsided after that.

We took off her thick jacket and lower the temperature. I felt so cold till I was sneezing. Before she recovered, I was already down. She slept soundly until 3am in the morning when she was hungry. After breastfed her, she was so wide awake and played besides her brother. Her poor brother was disturbed by her – scratching his face, touching his head, climbing onto his body, etc. I’d to accompany her till 5am. I fed her more with infant formula to make her sleep after two hour waiting. Finally, she slept.

So tiring! Luckily I got yellow card which allows to start work later… :P But, it’s only once a month.

This morning, her fever came back again. :( I’ll need to standby again tonight. Hopefully, she will recover soon. Best of luck!!!

Once I stop breastfeeding exclusively, she is sick. Sigh!

Free Ride

My little boy took a free ride from her poor sister. A 8kg baby needs to carry a 12 kg toddlers. At times, he will push her walker until she cried. Terrible brother! My friend told me to be patient as toddler below 3 years old doesn't know how to share things with others. She advised me to buy two sets of toys for both of my children. Unfortunately, I won't do that just because of budget constraint.

Breastfeeding Journey

I still remembered vividly how tough the situation was when I started breastfeeding my son. He was hungry most of the time and required long hour feeding before he dozed off. I almost went insane as a result of sleep deprivation with additional stress from the smelly hair, itchy scalp and heaty food that made you sweat excessively. Luckily, I survived through the first three months.

With second baby, it was slightly better where I only suffered it for the first month. She could sleep through the nite most of the time and she can sleep by herself. Unlike her brother, we still rock him to sleep until now. He is just too pampered by us.

It is only strong determination make successful breastfeeding. A lot of my friends gave up so easily even in the first week when the babies need nutrients to develop their immune system. Breast milk is the best nutrient and it is easy to digest and absorb by babies. They always said their supply was not enough. In fact, it’s an excuse as they never sought help from friends/lactation consultants. I am not better than them but I insisted to solve the problems as I went along. I regretted giving-up breastfeeding for the first child too early and he is now easily get sick frequently.

But, I’m glad that I managed to do it for the second child. I have successfully breastfed exclusively for 7 months. Hooray!!

Horrible Train Ride

I took the opportunity to experience the commuter ride when I had training in KL Sentral. If the experience is good, I may think to take train to work when I move to KL in July. The experience was just horrible which made me to think twice to use public transport. NO-NO.

#1 Waiting experience is terrible – no air-cond or fan. Damn hot and crowded. You would soak in sweat after a long wait.

#2 No queue system – you may see everyone queue-up in lines before the train arrives. When the train arrives, the last one in the queue will suddenly show-up in front and you are likely to be pushed into the train without you realize it.

#3 It is always late without any reasons.

#4 Breaks down occasionally without clear announcement. It would stop for a good hour to fix it. It would speed-off when the repair was done without informing the passengers.

#5 Zero safety – too crowded until people stand in between the door. The alarm is alerted when the door is forced to close. Still, more people are trying to squeeze in. People are rushing beyond the yellow line and barely one inch from the train before the train stops.

#6 Boarding machine is always out of order. You can just go in and out without a ticket.

#7 Too crowded until you feel like sardine in a can or tuna in a can. This is how the usual passengers talk about it. If you are short and unlucky, you’re like to suffer the stink smell until you feel like vomiting.

#8 Confusing queue system. Different destination would require queuing at different colour lines.

Tame toddler’s tantrum

I already ran out of ideas how to calm down my son’s regular tantrum. I had tried both hard and soft approaches but it failed. He can easily throw tantrum (lie down on the floor crying non-stop, kick leg) when things didn’t get into his way. His temper has gotten worse when he is under the care of my PIL. They pampered him so much so that the sky is the limit for him. They will fulfill every single demand from him. He is now the King of the house.

I’ll be the Devil Advocate which made him felt I’m a BAD mom. I beat him till my palms turned red and he didn’t change.

I just read about an article teaching parents how to bond with their children. She told a story of a child who was beaten by her mom since young age suddenly retaliated at age 12. She advised parents to shower children with love especially for their first three years.

I must start to breath-in and breath-out more regularly to increase my tolerance level. :)

Bad Luck

My son was soooo BAD LUCK recently…. One after another bad luck thing happened to him.

A week ago, he fell on the bed and his ear hit the sharp edge of the bed frame. The ear was badly injured and it was swollen and blue black. Luckily, he didn’t tear his ear apart.

Few days later, he lost appetite and suffered from high fever for few days. I took an EL and brought him to see doctor. I waited for him to wake-up first and then called-in to make appointment. At 10.30am, I called-in and I got No. 38 and it was serving No. 1. I was asked to go by 12 noon. I left home around 12.15 assuming that it was going to take time to serve 38 patients. I reached around 12.30pm and they were serving No.39. OMG, I scared to be scolded again and check if I could chip-in. The receptionist rushed me in. The radio doctor asked a long list of questions in few seconds until I couldn’t digest it properly and didn’t answer it accordingly. Did he got fever, diarrhea, vomit, flu, drooling a lot,….? I felt so stressful until I forgot to ask him questions. He was impatient with my slow answers. It only took 5 minutes to finish the checking and questioning. My son is allergic to volron / voltron (a fever relief medication) and it was the same family with a sore throat pill. He only got fever syrup. The fever came and went off every few hours for a continuous three days. The fever went up in the middle of the night, making us hard to sleep.

When he was recovered from the fever, he fell again and he accidentally bit his lips. It was bleeding a lot. We quickly applied sugar on his lips. The bleeding stopped but the lips were swollen.

Poor thing!:(

City Boy

I love to bring my children to stay close to the nature. On my recent trip back to Kuantan, I made an effort to bring my son to the beach in the hope that he would enjoy playing on the beach. I purposely bought him a set of sand sculpting tools. When I took off his slippers and put him down on the beach. He screamed and cried so loud because he felt so uncomfortable with sands sticking on his feet. The strangers nearby were curious why he cried. It was so embarrassing. I didn’t know that I’d raised a city kid. Sigh…

I was so disappointed. I still remembered vividly how I enjoyed my old time on the beach. I used to have picnic with my friends on the beach with all the good barbecue food – chicken wing (my friend’s mum made), sausages and others and we spent half a day there chit-chat and play games. For some reasons, we hardly swim in the beach. Strange? We didn’t mind the hassles of carrying a lot of heavy stuff - the barbecue stove, charcoal, heavy stuff and the food with strong wind blowing sands on your face and it made you difficult to walk forward (the strong wind was against you). It was so enjoyable. Those days!!!

Mother’s Day

Seriously, I’ve never thought of celebrating it for myself. :P Nor did I realize that I’m already a mother of two kids. Before I got married, I celebrated it ONLY with my mom. Now, I need to celebrate it with my MIL as well. This year was an exceptional one when my SIL organized a pot-luck dinner at her house for my MIL. For all you know, we have become so used to just go there and eat but it wasn’t this round. What to prepare???? With two kids around, I have more excuses NOT to cook. We ended-up buying KFC and a cake. Mother’s day was really a big event where the KFC outlet was packed with take-away customers. We waited for 45 minutes and we were already late for the dinner. No choice. We asked them to start first. We only arrived around 8.30pm. Damn hungry!!! Just wallop anything available on the table with my little girl on my lap. She never gave me a good time to enjoy my food. She didn’t want others to carry her. She screamed and cried so loud that everyone tried to stay FAR FAR away from her. So terrible!! J In fact, she was too tired and wanted to sleep.

When it came to cake-cutting, everyone was rushing me to cut the cake together. I still didn’t realize I could be one of them. There were four mothers lined-up in front of the cake including my MIL. J Hehehe….. This is the first time in my life that I get to cut a mother’s day cake.

On Sunday, we thought of buying MIL a dinner. At first, we drove to a famous roasted duck and curry fish head noodles in Tmn Ehsan, full house. Turned to Sri Sinar Le Le Heong, full house again. Abandoned plan. On the way back, we ordered some food through phone at a nearby restaurant.

We had steamed fish, Thai style chicken, Kam heong lala, home-made tauhu for mother’s day at home. Luckily, it tasted so good. It costs less than RM50. Darn cheap and convenient. :P Lessons learned. Never celebrate Mother’s Day on the actual day and never leave home after 7pm on festivities.

Heat Wave

The heat wave has been disturbing my babies daily routine. They could no longer sleep soundly for their afternoon nap. They changed their nap time to the evening when it is not so hot. My little girl sweat a lot and the sweat is dripping and her hair is soaked in sweat. She will only sleep happily and longer when I turn on air-cond for her at nite.

The funny thing is that my FIL started to demand for air-cond after more than 70+ years using fan. He couldn't sleep at nite and took shower few times a day to cool-off his body. He couldn't sleep now without the air-cond. What a big change in life??

I think the global warming is getting worse when more and more people turn on their air-cond.

My Little Trainer

My son always wanted to grab everything from my daughter. This is how he hijacked her walker.

But, at the same time, without our notice, he has made a good trainer for her. To our surprise, she learns to master the walker much earlier than my son. For a few attempts, she can walk freely in a walker in all directions. This is how her littler trainer took her for a spin.

Good Taste

I have in total bought him 4 pairs of shoes – baby “POOH” soft soles, sandals, imitate crocs and a flip flop from a World of Carton warehouse sales in the range of RM6 to RM20. I never splurge on babies stuff. He loves shoes so much so that his eyes will light-up the moment he put it on. For simple reason, he understands that this is the only chance he can go out and play or go shopping. Due to his large, broad and deep feet, I bought oversize shoes for him. It is always one size larger. Nevertheless, his feet still outgrew his first pair of shoes (size 5 - for children 2-2.5 years).

So, we got to shop for new shoes. At first, we saw Kikilala shoes on sales and it only costs RM29 per pair. I took a pair and asked him to try. He refused to put it on and kept saying “mum moi, mum moi” (Cantonese: Dun wan Dun wan). We then window shopped at Nike shop for fun. I took a pair of Nike sport shoes and showed it to him. He loves it at first sight and tempted to try it. It costs about RM139. Darn expensive. How can he develop expensive taste at such a young age? I only bought shoes above RM100 after I started working. My hubby tempted to buy it for him but I insisted not buying. My rationale is that he will outgrow it within a short time. It is just NOT worth it.

My First Tooth

Yesterday, we suddenly discovered her ONLY ONE pearly white tooth erupted from the bottom. There were no symptoms at all. My son used to get mild fever and diarrhea. We can now understand why she was drooling a lot and sucked fingers so fiercely in the past few weeks. She even bit me during the breastfeed. She likes to suck her thumbs during breastfeed. Being so ignorant, the white tooth has quietly erupted. This was quite unexpected as my son FIRST TOOTH came out only after month 7. She is now only 5 months +. I have to watch out closely on her next development. CRAWLING.

Baby's first haircut

My son’s first haircut was at full moon. He is born with loads of hair. His hair is stubborn - grow upward and stand firmly on his head. He will looks like a Trojan Man with long hair. We normally sent him to an auntie barber and my hubby held him on his lap. He screamed and tried to pull off the cloth around his neck. We didn’t shave him bald on full moon although some people said that the fine baby hairs must be removed to make room for thicker hair growth. We just kept his hair short. His hairs grew so fast that we need to get it trimmed once a month. The screaming and fussing continues until now.

Then, my little girl has her first haircut recently at 5 months after we discovered her dandruff problem. I’m her hairdresser initially. After few cuts, she was annoyed and started to move around. I couldn’t handle her and let my SIL took over as she claimed that her mom used to open a barber shop. I left it in her good hand. She is v brave and cut it v fast. She was cool during the haircut – no fussing and no scream. Here u go. She is turned into a “Ah Wong” look. V ugly though. The hair is uneven and short. Her hair used to b v soft but it gets hard after the cut. Dunno why??? She looks more boyish now. This will definitely be the last haircut by my SIL. :(

Child Kidnap Scam

A syndicate has been duping parents here into pay ransom for the release of their “kidnapped” children.

This was what happened to my counsin’s husband. One morning, he received a call from a China Chinese woman who told him that his daughter was kidnapped and demanded for a ransom of RM100K. The lady didn’t allow him to put down the phone so that he wouldn’t be able to find out the whereabout of his daughter. Despite that, he still borrowed his friend’s phone to contact his daughter but there was no one answering the call. They lady even asked someone to scream and ask for help over the phone and her voice resembled his daughter’s. He was trembling and requested to reduce the ransom to RM20K and they agreed.

He quickly went to a nearby bank to withdraw money. Luckily, he met a Chinese lady who are kind enough to notice that something wasn’t right. She asked him why he wanted to withdraw one big lumpsum. He told him that it is used to pay for the ransom. The bank staff asked him to call back home to check his daughter whereabout first. Then, he contacted my cousin and found out that his daughter was having a meeting and that was why she didn’t pick-up the call. Thank god his daughter is safe and he managed to hold back the ransom money.

When he tried to spread this news around, he is surprised to find out that most of his neighbours were already victims of this scam and their losses were between RM1-RM10K. Apparently, he is the most generous one. :P

BEWARE OF KIDNAP SCAM, FIND OUT THEIR WHEREABOUT FIRST BEFORE U PAY!

Chinese School

I always wanted to enroll my children for Chinese school. I am now hesitant to do so when my colleague told me that her son refused to learn Chinese after enrolled in Chinese school. He is banned to ask out of ordinary questions in the class. The moment he raises his hands, the teacher would ask him to sit down. He has inspired with the innovative way the teacher taught in one of ASTRO educational program using Chess/Lego sets. The poor little boy lost interest in Chinese subject as a result of this.

He was annoyed when his one-on-one tuition teacher for Chinese subject spoon-fed him with exam answers. When he didn’t choose the exam questions that she spotted, he was beaten by his tuition teacher. His rationale was that the topic chosen by his tuition teacher didn’t interest him. He preferred the other question which he could write more things. My colleague was trying to reason with the teachers but they just didn’t accept students who are extra-ordinary.

Strong Kick

Everyday, I would have surprises from my little girl.

One morning, you would see her sleeping without her pants. She kicked it off when she was trying to be awake for a feed.

Another morning, you would see her bare foot. Her socks were landed on her bed. How can she be so rough as she is a girl? She can be so influential that her brother imitates her in many ways – kick wildly, blow bubbles, etc.

Jusco sells inferior goods

Economy is bad. This shouldn’t be an excuse to sell inferior goods to consumers. Few days ago, I rushed to Mid Valley Jusco to buy Bebelac nursing pad that has good absorbency and with reasonable price (RM18.90 for 40 pcs). The leftover stocks are wrapped in a transparent gift wrapping paper because the box is torn. I just grabbed a box without checking out the content. Ytd, I discovered that there were 7 pcs missing and they mixed with other brand’s nursing pads which stickers didn’t have the Bebelac logo. I ended-up paying a premium price for lesser quantity and for a cheaper brand.

Jusco has always been my top choice for quality goods. I would now have to think twice to shop at Jusco.

Where do I place my car seat?

Today, I felt so embarrassed when my colleague told me NOT to place the car seat in the front seat of my car and asked me to dismantle the passenger air bag if I need to place the car seat in front. :P Although I knew it long ago, we just got used to it as my husband used to drive proton car where we always placed the car seat in the front seat. Now that we changed to Honda, we have forgotten to relocate the car seat. I got to change it today to avoid being known as neglected mom.

Here are the Car Seat Safety Guidelines (US)
1. The back seat is the safest place for children under 12 to ride.
2. Never place a child in the front seat of a car or a truck that has a passenger air bag.
3. If a child is old enough to use an adult seatbelt and must ride in the front seat, secure the child correctly in the lap and shoulder seatbelt and move the front seat as far back as you can from the dashboard.

Super Powerful

Below is the development milestone for babies. My little girl is trying to advance too fast. She isn't doing things her age. She already drags objects toward herself and plays peek-a-boo. Before she knows how to sit or crawl, she is now pushing herself up with our support to stand momentarily. She does it all the time. She can stand as long as few minutes with both feet grounded firmly on your lap. I’m scratching my head if she would put too much pressure on her knee. Isn’t she pushing herself too much? OR Is my breast milk too powerful? :D

Nite Orchestra

Have you heard of nite orchestra? It was presented by a team of people ranging from as young as 5 months to as old as more than 60 years old.

I found it rather funny one nite when I noticed my little girl snoring at night as well as my mom and others. It's like a natural melody ............:P

Pasar Malam Fan

I am a hardcore fan of pasar malam. I used to live in PJ where I visited 3 pasar malams in a week – Tue at Section 17, Mon at SS2 and Thu at Chow Yang. I missed it a lot after I moved out of PJ.

I missed the cheap fresh fruits, ayam panggang, keropok, apam balik, durian at Section 17; soya bean drink, steamed corn, VCD/CDs, desert at SS2; asam laksa, bachang, chicken floss bun, fried carrot cake, soya tong yun, fried oyster mushroom, etc. at Chow Yang.

The pleasure of eating and shopping at pasar malam is indescribable. I can spend more than RM50 in one trip. Yesterday, I went to Desa Jaya pasar malam despite the rain. Since it was raining, I didn’t have to queue. I managed to grab everything I like in minutes. :) I went back with both hands full packed. Asam laksa, fried sweet potatoes, Taiwanese fried chicken, cake, swiss roll, sate, papaya, mangoes, some veggie, nite paper, etc. We finished off the food within half an hour and we just felt very satisfying. We regret not to buy more asam laksa as it tasted so good and I’d not have it for so long because of my pregnancy.

Breast Milk Vs. Fingers

My little girl is getting strange nowadays. She chooses her thumb over my breast. Sigh! I've been struggling of not expressing enough milk for her consumption. I'd tried out many ways to increase my milk supply... express more frequently at nite and at work... drink fenugreek and red bean soup with ba hup.... nurse her longer... I'm exhausted...

What is more dissapointing is she prefers her thumb MORE than drink milk????

Allergies Attack

Yesterday, I brought my two kids for immunization. I purposedly woke-up so early to get them bathed and dressed so that I can reach them on time. It open at 10am. We arrived just 5 minutes later and our queue no is 16 and it was serving no. 1. :(

As usual, we went to Old Town Coffee shop for our breakfast. The business is good thanked to the paed's patients. :P We ordered our usual favourite : nasi lemak and curry mee and not to miss our toasted bread. My little girl slept on the cushion. She was sweating because it was so warm. We requested to turn the aircond to full blast but to no avail. Economy is bad and they were trying to save cost. Not all aircond units were turned on.

After one and a half hour, my little girl had two jabs and one oral medication. My little boy had one booster jab. Both of them cried out so loud during the jab. After an hour later, my son developed rashes all over his face, hands and backs. We were so worried and brought him back to the clinic. To our surprise, his rashes subsided upon reaching the clinic. Nevertheless, we still went to c his paed. It was confirmed not medication allergy because he has taken jab before. He said it was food allergy. How can this develop since the food he consumed is nothing unusual like bread with butter and kaya, noodle with mushroom and vegie. He was given some allergic syrup and he was ok after that. At nite, we continue eating............. forget about the food allergy.

Roll Over at 4M

I roll over at month 4. This bouncer is just not big enough for me to roll around. I like to roll from my right side. I may be a right hander. Unlike my brother, he is a left hander.

Boobooboo........ Raining lor

According to the old people, when a baby blows bubbles, the raining will come soon. Past few days predictions seem to be quite TRUE. You may observe it from your baby.

Jealous

My son has become so selfish recently. He doesn't like to share anything with his sister. He'll grab everything from sister's hands.

He is trying hard to grab our attention by making silly stunts, spinning for few rounds, etc.

Whenever we carry his sister, he'll scream and cry until we put down his sister. If not, he would like to sit side-by-side with his sister.

When he is NOT eating, we'll tease him and pretend to feed his sister. He'll quickly swallow the food eventhough he doesn't like it.

When we put his sister on a mattress, he'll quickly lie besides her and disturb her.

I'm afraid the fight will be erupted soon.

Breastfeeding Constraints

Hmmm......... I must respect all breastfeeding moms including myself. After I started my breastfeeding journey, I realised how tough it is.

First, I have to restrict myself to shop at mother friendly shopping malls such as Jusco.

Second, I got to rush home within 3 hours when I don't bring my baby along.

Third, I hardly have much leisure time for watching TV and reading newspaper bcoz I'm busy expressing milk as well as nursing my baby.

Forth, I can't take alcohol. I have not had a drink since I found out I was pregnant. I would like to go out and have a couple of drinks tomorrow but I’m afraid that my baby will be intoxicated. Despite expert advice, I think I’ll still go for one or two glasses of beer. As long as I don’t get myself drunk, my baby will be alright.

This is expert advice.”Try to nurse your baby beforehand and then wait until the effects have worn off before nursing again.” :P Reasonable intake of alcohol should be fine.

Offended MIL

Since birth, my MIL was hardly carried or played with my little girl because she has gotten back pain and knee problem. After her first month, we moved back to Kepong when I seldom to go back to my MIL's place. She hardly knows her.

On her recent visit to my MIL's house, she cried so loud that she didn't want to be carried by her. She didn't give her face at all even at public area. A lady nearby trying to help to calm her down when she didn't want my MIL. My MIL felt so embarassed and scolded her that why she had to be so choosy as she won't have a choice later when my mom goes back to KTN. :) She felt offended. Poor thing... I warned my little girl to be more co-operative. She liked my FIL more than my MIL surprisingly even though my FIL wasn't that good at carrying a baby.

More words

My son can speak more words now. Strangely, he can only speak words start with b, p and m.
b- bowl, ball, bath, etc..
p- popo, (ap)ple, etc...
m - mei mei, mama, mee, mug, (sto)mach, etc.....
He is learning to communicate with his sister too........... Dunno what they are talking about?????:~

Commonalities

Don't we look alike when we are born? We arrived at the same hospital, wore same leopard print cloth, ....

We don't look alike

A lot of people have been nice to me by saying that my daughter looks like my son instead of telling that my daughter looks like my husband. I want to prove them wrong. Here is the picture.... What is your view?

Octo & Me

I can be a better octopus which can blow BUBBLES.

4-month Celebration

My husband helped to sew a string of Malee biscuits to be hanged on my daughter’s neck. I smack the biscuits onto her mouth. My friend told me that it’ll help her to keep slivers. Let's c how it goes??????

The last time we stole my relative’s table cloth and wiped my son’s mouth but it wasn’t effective and he is drooling very seriously even until now. It wasn’t effective becoz I didn’t keep it as secret.

Earth Hour

I don’t understand why everyone is so excited about this mere one hour total darkness on 28 Mar. I shall declare myself as strong supporter for “Earth Hour”. I have contributed more than 105,120 hours (12@365@24) many years ago. Since birth, I lived in a village house without electricity supply for 12 years. Everyday, I got to make sure I finished off all my home works in day time. You can understand now why I can do things very fast. At night, we used kerosene lamp or Montana oil lamp. My cousin strained her eyes reading books at night under the dim light and her power is more than 1,000.

GO BACK TO STONE AGE if you wish to support earth hours.

I need a nursing room.....

Hai hai hai.............

I wasn't so lucky this week. After having curi curi expressing milk in the big small meeting room, I was shocked to find out that a big group of people waiting for me to finish my earthy job. Damn embarassing! They didn't book the room and came straight to wait for me outside.

Then, I switched to a room which I'd booked. Someone knocked on door and tried to open it while I was still expressing. So ridiculous! The fellow came back and tried to open the door again. Damn it... I couldn't be bothered.

Now, I turned to pantry knowing that someone had done it so. That was this Indian colleague knocked on my door and called-out a lady's name who used to express in the pantry. She continued calling her until I got to open the door and tell her I need to use the room.

Hmmm............ So much troubles. My milk supply is getting less bcoz of these stressful disturbances. Most of the time, I've to do it in the fear of someone breaking in. Hai, the office is soooo unfriendly to mothers.

My FIL

My FIL had helped me a lot during my second month after delivery. He had boiled fish soup and cooked ginger wine chicken mee suah for my son and me. He had never cook in his life. Wow, I must be blessed. Non of Au's family members have been tasted his cooking. What a precious treats!

Unfortunately, my son took advantage of his kindness and bullied him. He was extremely cared for him knowing that he is the only grandchild in the family. He injured his backbone when my son threw his tantrum.

Luckily my mom came down to help. Then, he went back to Cheras again.

Now that my mom is going to leave soon. Still struggling if I wanted to hire a maid or send them to babysitters. Check out a babysitter. Not so good. She is smoking. Smelled cigarette in the toilet. Hiring maid. Lots of horror stories in the papers.

Baby Sitter OR FIL+MAID????? :(

Breastfeeding

I was motivated by my friend who is so dedicated to express milk for his son who only came back over weekend. The doctor advised her that this is the best nutrient for a baby.

At first, I was a bit hesitated. After seeing my son having flu and sinus every month, I decided to breastfeed my daughter for at least 6 months.

I took about three months of maternity leaves. Breastfeeding at home is v relaxing. Whenever she cried, I just stucked my breast into her mouth. That was why she grew faster than other babies. Two weeks before starting work, I started to gather milk as spared supply when I couldn't express enough milk for her after work. At first, I was struggling how to store my breast milk. I started off using all my Brand's chicken of essense bottles. Then, I used all kind of glass bottles. V last minute, I started to buy proper milk bottle which I can carry to work. I oso borrowed an insulated bag from my friend to transport my milk.

Going back to work, I was a bit embarassed to tell people that I breastfeed. They asked where will I express milk. I answered TOILET. They puzzled why TOILET. It is so dirty. They encouraged me to express it in the meeting room or store room.

I felt v stressful to express milk in the office as I always walked around with my little black suitcase which looks v presentable while I look for available room. A lot of guys wondered why I got so many prez in a day. I didn't tell them what it was. :P

I finally settled with express milk routine where people has gotten used to my noisy pumping sound and my little secret bag. Unfortunately, I couldn't express enough for my baby girl which requires 4 bottles a day and I managed to pump only two bottles.

Recently, my cousin's son was admitted to hospital twice and was diagnosed with intestine infection. He is only one month plus. Doctor advised my cousin to give him breastmilk so that he has stronger immune system. ??? She wasn't successful to breastfeed him since birth. Where got milk oredi? My cousin called me to help. I was oso puzzled how to help her since my daughter oredi not having enuf supply soon. My storage can only last for few days. I dunno if I'm selfish. I advise her to try to buy from mothers who deliver at general hospital. Chances are they may trade it for money. Alternatively, she can ask her gynae to buy some from his customers. What kind of doctor? Give a solution which people can't make it.

Now that I know how valueable breastmilk can be. Mothers-to-be, pls breastfeed your child so that he or she won't get silk easily especially at their vulnerable age.

100th Day

My daughter has already past 100th day without realising it. We forgot to celebrate for her. She was supposed to lick a chicken thigh plus chicken tounge and china leek. We only managed to get her a drumstick few days later. Second child is always at disadvantage where attention was shared with other sibling. My husband was also getting a bit relaxed with second child. Yup, I shouldn't forget the 4th month celebration when I'm supposed to hang a string of malee biscuit around her neck to keep her slyver. She is drooling a lot like her brother and she bites her fingers more serious than her brother. Remind me???

Fever

On one bright morning, my son was extremely quiet and sat alone on a sofa. We thought that he was having difficulty in passing motion again. He will normally do it quietly without any disturbance from others.

Later, we headed out to MIL's house without noticing that he wasn't feel well. In the car, he slept and wasn't active as usual. In my MIL's hse, he was playing with his cousins. Then, we went to our new house and pumped petrol. He was again fell asleep in the car. He also followed us to check out the new house. When we went back to the car, my SIL felt that he wasn't feeling well and his body was warm. We quickly went back to my MIL's hse and finished the pot of Bakuteh before heading home without noticing his fever was already past 39 C.

It was a public holiday. We searched around Cheras and Kepong to look for child's clinic but to no avail. We ended-up at a normal clinic at Metro Prima. The doctor wasn't v convincing and we decided to send him to Pantai Hospital and his fever was 39.5C.

As I needed to breastfeed my baby girl, my husband and my SIL sent my son to Pantai in the evening. The doctor quickly took off all his shirts and wiped his body to cool off his body in an air-conditioned room. She also inserted a fever pill into his buttock. Soon, the fever subsided. It was already around 9pm. When they were about to leave, my son got rashes all over his body and his eyes were swollen. Went to the doctor. Allergic to the pill (Volren, Voltron). He was also short of breath temporarily. A paeditrician was called to come-in and inspect him.

When my husband informed me about that. My FIL felt panic and he wanted to visit my son. As my FIL couldn't handle my baby girl, he got to drive and I carried my baby girl. He was seriously short of breath when he was panic. I was so worried if he could drive us safely to the hospital. I told him to calm down and took a deep breath before leaving the house. Along the way, I was the navigator but his eyesight was bad at nite. He almost missed some of the turning and drove on the wrong lane sometimes. Our life was at risk. Despite the danger ride, we arrived safely at Pantai.

I visited my son. He hardly ate anything and only wanted to eat bread and biscuits. Then, I decided to stay overnite to take care of him together with my SIL. I expressed milk in the hospital and my baby girl went home with my husband. They inserted a tube on his hand to make it easier for jab but he was bleeding when the nurse gave him a jab simply the tube wasn't in the right place. He cried. I was v sad to see him suffering at this young age.

Next day, the paed visited him and let him discharged. After going home, his fever came back again. We took off his shirt and use wet cold clothes to cool him down. We measure his temperature every hour so that it always below 38. Then, my BIL brought my MIL and his daughter to visit him. They tried to use various methods (made a flour dough and rolled on his chest and back) to see if he got "Ju Mo Dan" and rolled hot boiled egg to cool off his body. I was so nervous if the would make his fever worse. PENGSAN!!!

Next day, we brought him back to Pantai to see another Paed. He gave him some fever syrup and antibiotic. His fever was only suppressed by the the fever syrup. On the third day, my MIL asked me to buy goat horn (ling yang sai kok) to get rid of the fever. Since we can't mix chinese medicine with western one, we have to stop the western medicine first. However, his fever was getting worse when he refused to take the chinese medicine. I made a choice to feed him back the fever syrup.

At nite, I found out from friends/relatives that he could be getting dengue with rashes appeared on his body. We went back to Pantai on new year eve midnite. It was so lucky to bump into the same doctor treated him when he was admitted. She checked the rashes and confirmed that it was not dengue but it was just mild viral infection. The doctor advised us to finish off the antibiotic first and monitor his condition. When the clock strucked at 12 midnite, the doctor wished my son a happy new year. Thank God!!! My son was OK!!! What a precious NY gift?

Rottweiler

My husband brought back a rottweiler puppy which was bought from a relative at RM200. It was meant to jaga our new house. My husband was so excited about him and spending lots of time reading dog book on how to train and take care of him.

He was temporarily reared by my BIL until after CNY. He was sent back to Kepong house. Every morning and evening, my husband walked him out but he worked v late.

All other family members don't quite like dog. He ended-up not being taken care of. He was feed only two times a day. V early morning and v late at nite. His shits was not properly clean. He wasn't bathed few weeks because my husband worked late and worked over weekend as well. Smelly smelly.......
Rains.... he will get wet. Sunny day....... he will get sun burn......... Pity.........

Finally, he was sent back to BIL house. What a relief!! I don't have to be disturbed by him and get my pants dirty. (He climbed onto my pants). Only my husband and my little boy will miss him.

Smile

She is v adorable and socialable as her brother. She always smiles since she was one month plus. She will respond to u. But, she can also shout at you when you ignore her. She likes to be accompanied and she likes people talk to her.

When she was angry or hungry, she can cried v v loud until she scare of her. I think she has a stronger character.

Hand Shaking

Her hands shaked uncontrollably non-stop when she was in deep sleep after few days discharged from the hospital. SCARE!!! Sent her back to the Pantai Peadiatrician. Doctor said she was lack of calcium and gave her red calcium syrup. Puzzle? I thought I'd have enuf calcium knowing that I drank milk & soya milk, eat calcium pill, eat tauhu during my pregnancy. I continued drinking milk powder after delivery.

After finished the calcium syrup, her condition didn't get better. On her 2nd visit, the doctor took her blood but she didn't have enough blood. They massaged her hands to squeeze out more blood. She cried and cried v loudly. What a painful experience!!

Then, the test results showed that she was ok. Huh! What a relief? The doctor concluded that she was just scared when she felt unsecured. Her conditions continued until she past two months old.

At first, I thought she was disturbed by the dirty thing. During my confinement at my MIL house, one Indian lady (two floors above my MIL unit) jumped off her back yard through my back room and landed on the ground with a loud bang. My daughter was awaken by her. Since then, I was v scared to sleep alone. So does she.

Heavy Weight

My little girl was born 3.62kg. When she turned one month, her weight was 4.3kg. Then, two months old.... her weight was escalated to 6.1kg. Doctor couldn't believe it, so did I. We put her on the weighing scale three rounds to confirm her weight. She was moved from the average weight line to the Above average line.

She is taller and heavier than the average babies. :P

Heavy Rain

I was alone after the delivery most of the time as my husband was working. Then, I decided to discharge on Wed and my SIL helped to pick-up my confinement lady at the commuter station. When I was about to discharge, there are issues with my claims and it was delayed until late afternoon. My husband got to go. Nobody else knows how to drive to Pantai (my SIL & FIL). No Choice. My SIL took a cab to Pantai and fetch my daughter and I.

Heavy downpour. Luckily, Pantai helped us to call a cab. Since then, my daughter was always associated with rain. Wherever she went, it always rained until she turned two months old.

Mei Mei

Finally, mei mei has arrived on 10 of nov to accompany KY. A day before her arrival, it was unusual morning where I noticed I pee in my pants uncontrollable at around 3am. My water bag burst. I was so panic and get myself a hot shower and a good hair wash before rushing to hospital thinking that I'll deliver any time. When I reached the EU, I was sent to the labour room. The nurse checked and the cervix was still not dilated. I was asked to wait for doctor. Around 7.30am, Dr. dropped by and checked. "No sign of contraction", WAIT. He gave me option WAIT or INDUCE. Since INDUCE=PAIN, i rather wait. I was advised to change to normal room and walk around to have faster dilation. All single rooms were taken and I had to share room with a Indian lady who watched loud Indian movies. Restless day... Nurse came around to check baby heartbeat almost every hour.

Around 3pm, my contraction started and I walked around to speed-up the dilation. The doctor came by around evening and checked my cervix was already dilated 5cm but he said that I might deliver early in the morning and asked to eat a good meal and took enough rest. I decided to change back to labour room since there is more quiet.

Waiting........ until midnight, the contraction was getting intense but the dilation only 6-7cm. After 24 hours wait, the pain was so unbearable, i was asked to lie on my side to get more contraction. Finally, I felt the urge to pass motion. I asked for nurse and she helped to massage my lower back to relieve the pain. Few minutes later, doctor came. As usual, they set-up the bed to make it easier for me to PUSH.

Suddenly, I was blurred. I mixed-up PULL & PUSH. I was supposed to pull the steel bar and push the baby out. I was confused. With two pushes, they could see the baby hair. Few more failed attempts, I was restless and asked doctor to help. Last try, I felt like tearing my vaginal apart and the baby head came out. I had to hold my breath then and the doctor was pulling the baby out. My husband was more daring this round, standing besides the doctor to watch the whole process. He cut the baby cord.

Mei Mei cried so loud after coming out. She played with her slyver and she spitted a lot. She was then cleaned-up and wrapped in a Hello Kitty cloth. The same evil nurse named her a "naughty girl" as she kicks a lot and easily get frustrated.
